We are a self-governing church and a member of the Baptist Union of New Zealand (a network of over 240 churches who share common beliefs and practices).
From the small beginnings of cottage meetings of a few Baptist believers in the home of Bruce and Marie Taylor grew the Upper Hutt Baptist Church which was constituted in October 1955.
Over the years we have been blessed by a number of pastors, all with very different personalities, but with the gifts and leadership qualities that were required at the time.
As our membership increased, we were challenged to extend the original building first and then again to purchase the property where the church is standing today. In 2012 we completed our new church campus. Each time there was a challenge we rose to the occasion and moved forward in faith.
The format of our services have changed from very formal services lasting approximately 60 minutes, to more flexible services which last around 90 minutes.
